Characterization of Films Based on Cellulose Acetate/Poly(caprolactone diol) Intended for Active Packaging Prepared by Green Chemistry Principles

Biodegradable active packaging films based on a cellulose acetate and poly(caprolactone diol) blend with incorporated lemongrass oil were developed. Films prepared using novel bio-based plasticizer, glycerol tritartarate, synthesized the principles of green chemistry. The influence as well essential amount, structural, surface, mechanical, thermal properties was investigated. plasticizer shown to work compatibilizer for two polymers, according results scanning electron microscopy surface energy analysis. Blends greater amount possessed better mechanical but showed worse resistance water. antimicrobial property found be superior that without oil. incorporation into polymer resulted in one more step longer degradation process. optimal film properties, biodegradability, cost-effective preparation method, additional functions made these suitable production grapefruit.
